Introduce yourself. Tell me what you do, what you’re passionate about, and an interesting fact about you.

I’m Janet Noah, a 300-level Radiography student at the University of Uyo and a textile designer. I run an Adire business that serves customers with durable Adire clothes. I love public speaking, and I’m always set to talk to students about entrepreneurship and school.  I’m also a freelance writer who works with different companies to tell stories and create compelling content. I’m passionate about reading books and volunteering. I love volunteering and helping people out. One interesting thing about me is I enjoy working hard; I believe I must work hard for the things I need.

How did you first hear about MyTherapist.ng?

I heard about MyTherapist.ng from Twitter.

At what point did you decide it was time to see a therapist?

I knew I needed to see a therapist when everything seemed to be spiralling out of my control. Nothing was working, and I felt deeply exhausted. I’d also seen a long list of doctors, but I still didn’t feel well.

Did you have initial doubts about therapy?

No, I didn’t. I’ve always been a firm believer in mental health. I even volunteer at Parigoriá. I’ve always believed that if you need help, all you have to do is ask for help. It also made a lot of sense to me to talk to someone who’s skilled and experienced in helping me.

How did you pick your therapist?

This is a tricky one, honestly, because I remember going through the list on the app and having a hard time choosing a therapist. Well, I prayed first, then I checked the description and areas of expertise of the therapists and chose the one that fit me best. I considered their pricing as well, because I’m a student, and I wanted to pick something I could afford frequently, every time I needed it.

How would you describe your therapist?

She (Ejiro Ubierohwo) is godsent. She met my needs at EVERY point. She was also understanding and very encouraging. I loved that she listened to me and provided the best solutions for me.

What was your first session like?

My first session was scary; I was tired of letting people into my life. However, we settled in and got talking on a video call. She assured me everything was under control and she was there to help me. I ended the session with much more peace than I started it.

What was your first experience with the MyTherapist.ng platform like? How easy was it to navigate and use the MyTherapist.ng app?

On a scale of 1-10, I say 8. The app was easy to navigate, and I could easily find the things I needed.

What do you think sets MyTherapist.ng apart from other mental health services you’ve tried?

MyTherapist.ng is equipped with professionals who offer great help to their patients, regardless of what they’re charging.

Have you ever participated in any workshops or mental health awareness campaigns through MyTherapist.ng? If so, how was your experience?

No, I have not, but I would love to.

If you could add a new feature to the MyTherapist.ng app, what would it be?

Something that can help to ease panic attacks.

The Breathing Exercise and Meditation features help to ease anxiety and panic attacks. Have you tried them out?

I’ll check them out.

What features or services do you wish the Mytherapist.ng team would improve on?

The interface for the therapists’ profiles. It lags sometimes.

Would you recommend the MyTherapist.ng app to others? Why or why not?

I will definitely recommend MyTherapist.ng to people. People think therapy is expensive, but with MyTherapist.ng, I got access to cheap therapy, and the app has been helping my life greatly since then.

What’s a common misconception you’ve had concerning therapy & mental health in general?

None. I‘ve always been open to the many facets of mental health.

What advice would you give to someone considering using MyTherapist.ng for their mental health needs?

They should take an open-minded approach to solving their issues without having negative thoughts or doubts about whether therapy works or not; it does.
