NYSC and life after school

These articles cover NYSC and the year after school: camp, redeployment, loneliness at your PPA, living on the allowance, and the job hunt after service. They're for corps members, recent graduates and their families.

The service year takes away most of your support in one week: home, family, friends, routine and familiar food. After camp, many corps members land in a new town with a PPA that may not need them and long, quiet evenings. When service ends, the structure and allowance stop, and many move back home into a job market that doesn't reply. Feeling low, anxious or homesick through any of this is a normal response.

Start with NYSC and your mental health. If you've been posted far from home, read coping with redeployment stress, and if service has ended, surviving the post-NYSC job hunt.

If the low mood doesn't lift, or it's getting in the way of your days, you can talk to a licensed therapist on Mytherapist.ng by video, voice or chat, wherever you've been posted.
