How much does therapy cost in Nigeria?
A 60-minute session with a licensed therapist on Mytherapist.ng costs from ₦4,000. Most therapists charge between ₦10,000 and ₦36,000. Each therapist sets their own price, and you see it on their profile before you pay. There is no sign-up fee, and you do not need a membership to book.
What a session costs, by profession.
These figures come from the therapist roster and update every hour. “Typical” is the middle price, so half the therapists in that group charge less and half charge more. Each row opens the directory for that profession, sorted by price.

Students pay less with therapists who offer a student rate.
Set by each therapist
82 therapists offer a student rate today. Each therapist decides whether to offer one and how much it is. Once you are verified it shows on their profile and applies to individual sessions, with no code to enter. A therapist with no student rate charges students their normal price.
Verification is free and lasts 12 months
In the app, open Profile and tap Student discount. A school email ending in .edu.ng, .edu or .university verifies you straight away with a one-time code. If you have no school email, upload a student ID, admission letter or fees receipt and the team checks it within 24 to 48 hours.
With a supported HMO, you pay ₦0.
If your health plan is supported, choose “My HMO” at checkout and enter the enrollee ID from your card. The total reads ₦0 and nothing leaves your wallet or card. We confirm cover with your HMO before the session, usually within a day.
What to know
- Book at least 24 hours ahead. Same-day slots cannot be billed to an HMO.
- You cannot book anonymously when an HMO pays.
- If your HMO refuses cover, we cancel the session before it starts and tell you why. Nothing was charged, so there is nothing to refund.
My HMO is not listed
Ask for it on the supported HMOs page. You do not need an account. We email your HMO to say one of their enrollees wants to use their plan for therapy, and we email you when the scheme goes live. Until then you can pay from your wallet or by card.
Two optional plans.
You do not need either of them to book, and therapy stays pay-per-session with or without them. Prime removes fees and adds free intro sessions. A subscription to your therapist keeps a weekly hour.
Mytherapist.ng Prime

Prime Family is ₦2,000 a month or ₦18,000 a year for you and up to 5 people you add, each on their own account. Prime does not pay for therapy sessions.
Subscribe to your therapist
If you see your therapist every week, a subscription keeps the same hour for you each week, booked and confirmed in advance, and you pay a month at a time. The price depends on the therapist's plan on Mytherapist.ng. You see it on their profile before you choose an hour, next to what you save compared with four one-time sessions.
Therapists offer it by invitation, after you have completed at least one session with them. A small number of therapists offer it so far.

The app shows the exact fee before you confirm. Refunds go to your Mytherapist.ng wallet, which does not expire. If your therapist declines, does not respond in time or does not turn up, you get everything back. How refunds work

The therapist sets the price
Each circle has a monthly price in that range, set by the therapist who leads it. A weekly circle's month is four sessions and a fortnightly circle's is two. A circle is up to twelve people and one licensed therapist, on video.

Each circle's page shows who leads it, the next dates and what a month costs. You pay the first month from your wallet or by card. You can stop at any time, and the sessions you have paid for still run.
Cover for a team, from ₦2,250 per employee a month.
An employer pays a fixed price per employee each billing cycle, and covered staff see “You pay today: ₦0” at checkout. Each plan includes a set number of sessions per employee a month and a set range of therapist tiers. The dashboard shows both before you buy.

Prices are per employee and invoiced in Naira. You can cancel a monthly plan at any time, and a quarterly or annual plan at the end of its cycle. Pay-as-you-go cover from a funded wallet is also available. Community pricing, for NGOs, faith communities and alumni networks, is agreed case by case.

From ₦4,000 a session, and the price is the same wherever you live. 89 of our 116 therapists are based in Lagos, so you can pick someone who knows the city. Sessions are by video, voice or chat, in the evening if that suits you, and there is nothing to pay for transport.

When we checked published price lists in September 2026, private practices in Lagos charged ₦15,000 to ₦57,500 a session and public hospital clinics ₦2,000 to ₦17,250, often with a wait.
