Focused support
Anxiety is the body's alarm going off when there is no fire. It can be a steady hum of worry about money, work, family or health, or it can arrive as a panic attack: a racing heart, a tight chest, shaking and the certainty that something terrible is about to happen. Many Nigerians first go to a hospital for the chest pain, get told their heart is fine, and are left with no explanation. The therapists here know the pattern well.
You meet your therapist inside the Mytherapist.ng app, by video, voice or chat. Chat suits people who freeze on calls; voice suits people who cannot be seen on video where they are. You book a slot in the app and pay there, and the session happens on your phone or laptop.
This page suits you if you worry most days and cannot stop, if you have had panic attacks, if meetings or owambes make you dread the week, or if you keep checking your body for signs of illness. It also suits people whose anxiety shows up as irritability, poor sleep or headaches. The therapists listed do not prescribe medication; if they think a doctor should see you too, they will say so.
In a first session your therapist asks when the anxiety started, what sets it off and what you do to cope. You will probably leave with one or two things to try before you meet again. Most people are seen weekly at first. Browse the therapists below to compare backgrounds and rates, and book a first session when you are ready.
Each therapist below is licensed and verified. Read their background and rates, then book by video, voice or chat.

Good to know
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) has the strongest evidence for anxiety and panic. It teaches you to notice the thoughts that drive the fear, test them, and face the situations you have been avoiding in steps. Many therapists here use it, often with breathing and grounding skills for the moments when panic rises.
Anxiety responds well to short courses. Many people see a clear change within six to twelve weekly sessions. Panic attacks often settle sooner once you understand what is happening in your body. Your therapist will review progress with you and tell you when you can stop.
Yes. A therapist helps you learn what a panic attack is and is not, which takes away much of the fear of the next one, and then works with you on the breathing, thinking and avoidance patterns that keep them coming. Our guide to anxiety explains the difference between anxiety and a panic attack.
Yes, with one limit. What you tell your therapist stays between you. The exception is a risk to life: if your therapist believes there's a real and immediate risk of serious harm to you or to someone else, including a child, they may need to act on it. That can mean contacting emergency services or someone who can reach you. They'll tell you when they're doing this, wherever it's safe to.
Many people with anxiety get better with therapy alone. The therapists here do not prescribe. If your symptoms are severe, they may suggest you also see a doctor or psychiatrist, and can carry on working with you alongside that.
Each therapist sets their own rate, from ₦7,000 a session. Some therapists offer a student rate or a free first consultation, and it shows on their profile below.
