I'm not getting notifications

Allow notifications for Mytherapist.ng in your phone settings, then log out and log back in to re-register your phone.

The usual fix is to allow notifications for Mytherapist.ng in your phone settings, then log out of the app and log back in. The app registers your phone for notifications when you log in, so allowing them afterwards doesn't take effect until your next login.

Fix it in three steps

  1. Turn on notifications for the app in your phone settings. iPhone: Settings → Notifications → Mytherapist.ng → Allow Notifications. Android: Settings → Apps → Mytherapist.ng → Notifications.
  2. Log out of the Mytherapist.ng app, then log back in. This is the step that matters: it re-registers your phone.
  3. In the app, open Settings → Notifications and check the toggles. There's one for each type (new messages, appointment reminders, daily affirmation, product updates, and email options). They're all on by default, but one may have been switched off.

Quiet cases that are normal

  • You don't get a banner for a chat you're already looking at.
  • If several messages arrive in a burst, the first one pings straight away and the rest are bundled into one "N new messages" alert about 30 seconds later. One notification for several messages isn't a missed alert.

Still nothing?

If you've allowed notifications, logged out and back in, and still get nothing, open Settings → Chat with Support in the app. Tell us your phone model and that you've already done the log-out and log-in. A person replies Mon–Sat, 9am–5pm WAT.

Session reminders also arrive by email, so check your inbox as a backstop while you sort out push notifications.

  • Is my therapist online?

The chat header shows online or last seen. It only reflects whether their app is connected, not whether they're free.

Screenshots are blocked on the session and chat screens on purpose, to protect confidential therapy content.
