Q3 2026, wrapped: everything that changed on Mytherapist.ng

Three months of changes to the app, the website and how sessions get booked. Here’s the short version, with where to find each thing.

Q3, wrapped. July to September 2026 on Mytherapist.ng

A lot changed between July and September, and much of it started as something you asked for, in a review, a support chat or a feature request from Settings. Here’s what’s new and where to find it.

Three numbers first: 80+ new articles on the blog, 250+ terms in the new glossary, and 30-minute free intro sessions for Prime members.

Prime is here

Prime is our membership for people who use Mytherapist.ng often. Members pay no reschedule or cancellation fees, get the premium meditations and breathing exercises, and can book a free 30-minute intro with a participating therapist (up to three a month) to check the fit before paying for a full session. There are Individual and Family plans, monthly or yearly, from ₦1,000 a month. You’ll find it on your Home screen.

A new look, and a tour

Home, the Therapy tab, the therapist list and your tools were redesigned in July. New users get a welcome tour of six quick steps, and you can replay it any time. Signing up is now three steps, and you can sign in with Face ID or your fingerprint.

Easier to pick the right person

Profiles now show the qualifications our team has verified, badges such as Fast responder and Rarely cancels, and a line from the therapist in their own words. In the app you can browse by what you’re facing: mood and anxiety, relationships and family, healing and recovery, and more. On the website you can browse by language, city and specialty. Verified students see therapists with student rates first, and verification now takes minutes with a school email.

Booking: fewer dead ends

Reschedule and Cancel now sit right on the session, always. The calendar shows which hours are already taken. If your therapist can’t make your time, you get alternative times to accept or decline in the app. After a session, Same time next week books the next one in a tap, and a therapist can keep a few times for you to pick from. And since late September, every block of a therapist’s day is bookable, including split morning and evening hours.

Your mood tracker, rebuilt

A check-in can now carry up to five emotion words. You can edit or delete an entry, and tap any day on the calendar to see what you logged. Check-ins stay private unless you tap Share with my therapist.

More ways to pay

You can now bill a session to your HMO, starting with AllyHMO. If yours isn’t listed, ask for it in the app or at mytherapist.ng/supported-hmos. If your employer or organisation covers therapy, covered sessions show ₦0 at checkout, you can see how many sessions you have left, and you can claim a benefit with a code or link. The app also tells you, before you book, exactly what your employer can see. Which therapist you saw is never part of it.

In session: when it’s time

When your therapist joins the room, the app rings with a full-screen Your therapist is calling, so you don’t need to watch the chat for the call. There’s a clear End session button. And before a session you can jot down what you want from it; Tio can tidy the note, and it stays private unless you choose to share it.

Questionnaires from your therapist

Your therapist can now send you a short, standard questionnaire to complete in the app, such as the GAD-7 for anxiety or the DASS-21 for stress and low mood. It shows up as a card on your Home screen. You choose whether to take it, your answers save as you go, and only your therapist sees them. Skipping one changes nothing about your care. You need the latest app update to see this.

Safety and control

You can report a therapist from the session record, and your name is never shared with them. Chat now warns you before you send contact details. Notification preferences live in Settings. And if you delete your account, it completes within seven days.

On mytherapist.ng

The website gained a help centre, a glossary of more than 250 mental-health terms, search across the whole blog, a page listing supported HMOs, and a public roadmap that shows what’s being built and how many people asked for it. We also published more than 80 new articles between July and September.

Fixes you might have felt

  • Journal entries save reliably again.
  • No more double bookings, and a failed booking no longer uses up a covered session.
  • A successful reschedule no longer shows an error.
  • Voice notes upload again on Android.
  • Verification-code, gift, recap and invitation emails display properly again.

Since the quarter ended

  • The web app at app.mytherapist.ng caught up with the phone app on 2 October: profile and settings, student verification, Prime, card payments and redesigned booking screens.
  • Session times now show in your own timezone, wherever you are.

What’s next

In-person sessions (in progress). Sessions in a private meeting room at partner venues, starting with Lagos. You’d book in the app a couple of days ahead, pay a flat room fee on top of your therapist’s price, and check in with a four-digit code when you arrive. Therapists are joining the pilot by invitation first.

Subscribe to your therapist (being designed). A standing weekly slot with your therapist: the same time every week, yours without rebooking, paid in blocks of four sessions.

Group sessions (planned). Small, therapist-led groups of six to ten people on a shared topic, weekly and online, for support alongside others going through the same thing. Larger one-off workshops too.

A note from us

If anything here doesn’t work the way we described, write to support@mytherapist.ng. A person reads every message.

Thank you for being here this quarter.
