Self-assessments

Free self-scored questionnaires for depression, anxiety and more. They are screening tools, not diagnoses.

Updated 9 October 20261 min readBy the Mytherapist.ng support team

Self-assessments in the Mytherapist.ng app are free, self-scored questionnaires. They are screening tools, not diagnoses: a score can point at something worth exploring with a therapist, but it can't tell you what you have.

What's available

Open Tools and choose the self-assessments. There are questionnaires including depression, general anxiety, PTSD, social anxiety, bipolar and eating disorder. All of them are free and need no Mytherapist.ng Prime membership.

How they work

  1. Pick a questionnaire.
  2. Answer each question honestly.
  3. Your result is shown to you at the end and saved to your account, so you can look back at it later.

What a result means

A self-assessment is a screening tool. It cannot diagnose a condition, and support can't interpret your score for you. What a score means for you is a conversation for a therapist, and that is exactly what a first session is for.

If a result worries you, book a session. You can browse therapists, then follow Book a therapy session. If you don't have the app yet, get it from mytherapist.ng/app-download.

Common questions

  • Is my result shared with anyone? It is shown to you and saved to your account.
  • Do I need Prime? No. Self-assessments are fully free.

If you're in immediate danger, call 112, or 767 in Lagos. To talk to someone at any hour, call Safe Place Nigeria on 0800 800 2000 (toll-free, 24/7). See If you need urgent help right now.
