4 licensed therapists for spiritual and faith-based counselling
Licensed therapists comfortable with faith in the room: prayer, scripture, church or mosque, and the questions that come when belief and pain collide. Sessions by video, voice or chat.
Focused support
Many Nigerians are told that therapy and faith do not mix, that going to a therapist means your faith was not enough, or that your pastor or imam should be all the help you need. Faith-based counselling says otherwise. The therapists here are licensed mental health professionals who are at ease with belief: they draw on scripture where it fits, respect fasting and worship, and never treat your faith as a symptom. They also know the difference between spiritual struggle and a treatable condition, and will say so with care.
Sessions are inside the Mytherapist.ng app, by video, voice or chat, and you book and pay in the app. Tell the therapist what role you would like faith to play, from central to background. Each therapist's profile describes their approach; read it, and mention your faith when you book so the fit is right.
This page suits believers who want a therapist who shares or respects their values, people wrestling with guilt, doubt or a crisis of faith, people hurt by a church or a religious community, couples who want their marriage counselling to reflect their faith, and anyone whose family has said just pray about it when they needed more. It also suits people who have been told their depression or anxiety is a spiritual attack and want another view.
A first session covers what brought you, where your faith sits in your life, and how you want it handled in the room. From there the work looks like any good therapy, with your beliefs as part of the picture rather than a problem. Browse the therapists below to compare backgrounds and rates.
Each therapist below is licensed and verified. Read their background and rates, then book by video, voice or chat.

Good to know
No. A licensed therapist works within your values, not against them. The therapists on this page chose this specialty because they are comfortable with faith, and they will not argue you out of it or push their own. If you want faith kept out of the sessions, that is respected too.
No. Pastoral counselling comes from a pastor or imam and is rooted in religious guidance. The therapists here are trained and licensed mental health professionals who also respect and can work with your faith. Many people use both: their religious leader for spiritual direction and a therapist for the mental health work.
Ask the therapist when you book; many faith-based counsellors are happy to open or close with prayer, or to support you praying yourself. Say what you would like, and they will tell you how they work.
Yes. Therapists here work with clients of different faiths, including Muslims, and understand fasting, prayer times and family and marriage questions from an Islamic view. Read the profiles, mention your faith when you book, and read our post on Islam and therapy for the common questions.
Yes, with one limit. What you tell your therapist stays between you. The exception is a risk to life: if your therapist believes there's a real and immediate risk of serious harm to you or to someone else, including a child, they may need to act on it. That can mean contacting emergency services or someone who can reach you. They'll tell you when they're doing this, wherever it's safe to. Nothing is shared with your church, mosque or family.
Each therapist sets their own rate, from ₦12,000 a session. Some therapists offer a student rate or a free first consultation, and it shows on their profile below.
