54 licensed therapists for addiction and substance use
Licensed therapists who work with alcohol, codeine and tramadol, cannabis, sports betting, porn and anything else that has stopped being a choice. Sessions by video, voice or chat.
Focused support
Addiction is when something you started for relief or fun has taken the wheel: drinking that goes further than planned, codeine or tramadol you cannot do without, cannabis every evening, betting that chases every loss, or porn and phone use that you hide and hate. In Nigeria the shame runs deep and the help has mostly been rehab centres or deliverance, so many people wait until things fall apart. You do not have to.
Sessions happen inside the Mytherapist.ng app, by video, voice or chat. Chat is useful on the days you cannot say it aloud. You book and pay in the app, from wherever you are, and nobody at home or at work is told. Sessions are booked ahead, so this is for ongoing work, not for an emergency.
This page suits people who want to cut down or stop and have tried on their own, family members who want to know how to help without enabling, people fresh out of rehab who need support to stay well, and anyone whose betting or drinking is damaging money, work or a relationship. The therapists here do not prescribe, and do not run detox. If you drink heavily every day, stopping suddenly can be dangerous, and your therapist will want a doctor involved.
A first session looks at what you use, how much, what it does for you and what it is costing you, without lectures. You and your therapist then set a goal, whether that is stopping or cutting down, and a plan for cravings and slips. Browse the therapists below to compare backgrounds and rates, and book a first session when you are ready.
Each therapist below is licensed and verified. Read their background and rates, then book by video, voice or chat.

Good to know
Often, yes. Rehab is for people who need a safe place to detox or cannot stay away from the substance where they live. Many people cut down or stop with weekly therapy, support at home and, where needed, a doctor. Your therapist will tell you honestly if they think residential care would be safer.
If you drink heavily every day, stopping suddenly can cause withdrawal that is dangerous, including seizures. See a doctor before you stop, and tell your therapist how much you drink. Our post on how to stop drinking safely explains what to watch for.
Yes. Gambling is one of the areas where CBT has good evidence. The work covers the beliefs that keep you chasing losses, handling urges, blocking access to apps and money, and repairing the damage. Debt from betting is part of the conversation, not a separate problem.
Yes, with one limit. What you tell your therapist stays between you. The exception is a risk to life: if your therapist believes there's a real and immediate risk of serious harm to you or to someone else, including a child, they may need to act on it. That can mean contacting emergency services or someone who can reach you. They'll tell you when they're doing this, wherever it's safe to.
You can book a session for yourself to talk about someone else's addiction, and many people do. The person using has to choose therapy for themselves for it to work, but you can learn how to support them, set limits and look after yourself in the meantime.
Each therapist sets their own rate, from ₦7,500 a session. Some therapists offer a student rate or a free first consultation, and it shows on their profile below.
