Someone else, a parent or partner for example, can pay for your sessions as your sponsor. Once the sponsorship is active, "sponsor wallet" appears as a payment method when you book, and the session is paid from their wallet.
Setting up a sponsor
- In the app, request a sponsor using their Mytherapist.ng email or username.
- Your sponsor receives a short authorisation code. It's only valid for a few minutes, so ask them to pass it on straight away.
- Enter the code in the app. The sponsorship becomes active.
Paying with the sponsor wallet
When you book, choose "sponsor wallet" as the payment method. The amount is taken from your sponsor's wallet.
Messages you might see
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| "Sponsor not found" | The email or username didn't match an account. Check it with your sponsor |
| "You cannot sponsor yourself" | You entered your own details |
| "Sponsorship already active" | You already have an active sponsor |
| "Code expired" or "Invalid code" | Codes only last a few minutes. Request a new one and enter it promptly |
| "Sponsor not authorized" | You chose sponsor wallet without an active sponsorship. Set one up first |
Refunds on sponsored sessions
If a sponsored session is cancelled or declined, the refund goes to your sponsor's wallet, not yours. See how refunds work.
Sponsorship is different from an employer or HMO benefit, which comes through your organisation's plan rather than a person's wallet.
